About Us
About Us
- It supplies 25 kV AC to trains while transmitting power at 50 kV to minimize energy losses and improve efficiency.
- Commonly used in modern high-speed lines, it addresses limitations of traditional 25 kV systems by reducing voltage drops over long distances.
- Two main purposes of introducing this system in India by Indian Railway is to achieve speed potential to 160 KMPH for passenger trains and achieve 3000 million Tonne of goods transport capability.
Our Projects
Howrah to Chennai being an important passenger corridor, is chosen for this improved Railway Electrification system to make it suitable for 160 kmph. The project wing of South Eastern Railway has entrusted the work of converting the existing 25 KV traction system to 2x 25 KV system in Kharagpur to Bhadrak section which is part of Howrah – Chennai trunk Route to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a central Public Sector Unit under ministry of Railway. RVNL has to execute both Negative Feeder line work along with modifications to existing overhead equipment (OHE) to make it suitable for 160 KMPH as well as Power System Installation (PSI) Works in the section.
Negative Feeder Line
A parallel overhead conductor in AC electric traction systems, running alongside the main catenary, carrying power with an opposite phase to improve voltage stability and efficiency, especially for high-speed railways.
OHE Modification
Upgrading infrastructure, like increasing wire tension for higher speeds (e.g., 160 KMPH), shifting masts due to track realignment, enhancing feeding systems (e.g., 2x25kV), and improving components like adjusters.
Power Supply System
Provides electricity for traction (propulsion) and auxiliary needs, primarily through overhead lines (catenary) or a third rail, using contact systems to draw power, which is then converted and fed to motors.
